Lesson 5: What magickal tools do you need?

magickal tools
magickal tools

Tools aren’t needed to work magick, in fact there are no ” magickal tools ‘. You do NOT need athames, bolines, bowls, wands, cards, crystals, herbs, or anything else. All the magickal tools you will ever need to effectively work magick comes right from your own body, soul, emotions, and mind. Any other tools or supplements are usually dictated by tradition and/or intuition, but in reality are props. I do not think props are bad or non-useful, but I do want to impress on people what is magick and what is not.

Before you use any tool or even spell, you should take a good long look at yourself. It is my belief that everyone has some kind of gift. What do you think of first?

[level-path-of-magick-part-1]

It can be very specific, or very general. It can be weak or latent, or can be strong and active. It can be a seed that takes a life time to grow, or it could be full grown by the time we reach four years of age. We may have a gift, but in one life time, never be asked or called to really develop or work with it. It is very individual, very personal, and very intrinsic, so woven into our make up, we don’t’ realize that other people don’t do something the way we do it). From my experience, beginning to under our gifts is our individual key to beginning to understand how to align ourselves with Divine Will.

If you are called to work with magickal tools or altar tools, use your gut and intuition, along with any spirit guidance you do get about it. People can use different tools and variations of tools for different intents and energies they chose to work with. There may not be a standard set of tools you ALWAYS work with. If you are attracted to a tool, or if it calls to you, then work with it. If you don’t like or don’t understand a tool, don’t work with it.

Don’t ignore those gifts that were given freely when we came to live in this here and now. Develop your gifts, emotions, intuitions, and logic, for those will further your use of magick farther and better than simply learning to focus your will and energy with a wand or athame.

 Assignment:

Karen Whitaker, of www.manifestintuition.com, says, “There is a correlation between which physical-level five senses you usually use the most, and which of the related ”clair” types of psychic abilities you usually use the most. This doesn’t mean you can’t choose to develop the other “clairs.” It’s just that it might be easier and inspire you more to first strengthen the “clairs” you already use most naturally. The best magickal tools are the ones you were born with!

The “clairs” are:

  • clairvoyance (clear seeing, or psychic vision)
  • clairaudience (clear hearing, or psychic hearing)
  • clairsentience (clear feeling/sensing or psychic feeling/sensing, including clairempathy)
  • clairtangency (clear touching or more commonly, psychometry)
  • claircognizance (clear knowing or psychic knowing)
  • clairgustance (clear tasting or psychic tasting)
  • clairalience (clear smelling or psychic smelling, sometimes also called clairscent)”

Many times we are kaleidoscope of talents.  Take a look at the article below and then write a short essay, 300-500 words, about where you think you fall in the realm of spiritual abilities and innate magickal tools!
